Minister Stoodley Refutes Opposition's Claims of Lack of Staffing for School Bus Inspections

Most Highway Enforcement Officer positions in the province are filled, according to the Department of Digital Government and Service NL.

Opposition Transportation critic Loyola O’Driscoll first raised the issue in the House of Assembly Thursday while asking about school bus inspections.

He stated that government does not have the staff in place to properly carry out the inspections, and in turn accused government of putting student safety at risk.

Minister Sarah Stoodley refuted the claims, saying she’s shocked by the accusation.

According to the department, they have 30 positions currently filled, and are actively recruiting for three vacant positions.
