A community art space in Trinity Bay has been selected as the winner of a major prize from the National Gallery of Canada.

Union House Arts is located in one of the refurbished units built by the Fishermen’s Protective Union in Port Union, the town it founded at the turn of the last century.

The building houses an art gallery, community kitchen, workshop space, studios and artist accommodations.

Union House Arts wins $50,000 as the recipient of the 2023 Lacey Prize, in addition to an in-person visit from a National Arts Gallery contemporary art curator who will also visit with local artists.
