A 57-year-old man is dead as the result of an unusual workplace accident near Clarenville yesterday morning.
RCMP say an ATV, with two people on board, was driving on the side of the highway approximately 2 kilometres west of Clarenville, on the outside of the guard rail, when the machine rolled down over an embankment.
Police say the two people were working at the time of the incident. The driver of the ATV escaped injury, but the passenger died at the scene.
The incident resulted in a temporary lane closure in the area.
RCMP and Occupational Health and Safety are involved in investigations into the incident.
