Elf the Musical is coming to the Arts and Culture Centre in St. John’s this week.
Many of us are familiar with “Elf”, the American Christmas comedy film about Buddy’s mission to bring joy and restore Christmas spirit to New York City.
Buddy was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father.
Evan Smith, who plays Buddy in the stage version, says the story line is much the same but all of the music is original.
“The soundtrack of the movie is not in the play but the plot is the same and you can quote the lines,” says Smith.
Elf the Musical runs from Thursday to Sunday at the Arts and Culture Centre.
