The local hockey community is mourning the loss of seven-year-old Lincoln Walsh of Chapel’s Cove, who tragically passed away this past week.

In tribute to the young man, a dedicated hockey fan, local sports groups across the island – and even those well beyond it – paid tribute to his life with some touching memorials.

CBR Minor Hockey hosted a general skate for all the kids and their families, extending an initiation to “anyone in our hockey familiy who would like to have a skate in Lincoln’s honor; the great hockey player, teammate and friend.”

In response, the Toronto Maple Leafs sent out a touching post featuring four hockey sticks outside of a locker room door with the hashtag #SticksForLinc.

The Leafs’ local ECHL affiliate Newfoundland Growlers would follow suit.
