The federal government is freeing up federally-owned land and properties in St. John’s to assist with the development of purpose-built housing units.

Minister of Public Services and Procurement Jean-Yves Duclos made the announcement today.

The Canada Lands Corporation is allowing for the construction of some 2,800 units in four cities—St. John’s, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa. At least 300 of those units will be earmarked for affordable housing.
