
Power has been restored to homes and businesses in the centre city area following an unexpected power outage over the supperhour.
Over a thousand customers were left in the dark for nearly three hours earlier this evening.
There is no word on the cause of the outage.

A number of homes and businesses in the centre city of St. John’s are in the dark this hour after an unknown power outage.
Over a thousand customers are affected in the Rabbittown area and extending towards the University.
A number of traffic lights, including the one at the intersection of Allandale Road and Prince Philip Drive, are currently out as a result, leading to a few delays for drivers.
Fire crews responded to a few calls from businesses near Churchill Square reporting a strong smell of smoke in the area around the time the outage began, but it is unclear if the events are related.
A restoration time is currently unknown, but power is expected to be out for at least the next couple of hours. The cause of the outage is under investigation.
