Province Paying Too Much for New Virtual Care Contract: Medicuro Founder

Dr. Todd Young

The founder of Medicuro, a virtual health care provider based in central Newfoundland says awarding the new $11 million two-year contract for virtual care services to a US-based company means that the money will be going out-of-province.

Dr. Todd Young submitted a proposal to the province’s RFP, and says he could have provided the service for $3.5 million, and the money would stay in the province.

“I kind of know the details and I kind of know what we projected we would be able to provide the service for,” says Young.

He says there’s a clear difference between what he knows he could supply the service for, and the $11 million contract awarded to Teledoc.
