The RNC say fireworks appear to be behind reports of shots fired in the capital city’s west end yesterday.
The reports resulted in lockdowns at a number of schools, the Waterford Hospital and some businesses in the Waterford Valley area.
Police received a report of possible shots fired in the area around 10:30 a.m. yesterday morning.
Officers descended on the area talking to witnesses, checking vacant properties, and searching trails, parks and open areas. No evidence of a weapons offence were found, however police did find fireworks that appeared to have recently been fired on the trail system along Waterford Bridge Road.
Police are thanking the public for their help and co-operation in their investigation.
